Product Management Intern
Location: Hyderabad (On-site)
Duration: 6 Months
Type: Full-time Internship
About Novetum
Novetum is an AI-native software company building intelligent products and autonomous agents that solve real business problems. We work at the intersection of AI, enterprise software, automation, and product engineering. Our teams ship quickly, iterate based on customer feedback, and focus relentlessly on delivering measurable value.
As a Product Management Intern, you will not be limited to research or documentation. You will operate as the product owner for assigned initiatives, owning both Product Management and Business Analysis responsibilities. Your work will directly influence product direction, engineering priorities, customer experience, and business outcomes.
This role is designed for individuals who enjoy understanding users, thinking strategically, making decisions with incomplete information, and working closely with engineering teams to build exceptional products.
What You'll Do
- Own product discovery for assigned initiatives by understanding customer problems, business objectives, and market opportunities.
- Conduct customer interviews, user research, competitor analysis, and market research to identify unmet needs.
- Analyze customer behavior, consumer psychology, user motivations, and decision-making patterns to influence product direction.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into clear product opportunities.
- Gather, analyze, and document functional and business requirements.
- Create Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), user stories, workflows, acceptance criteria, and feature specifications.
- Define product scope and collaborate with leadership to prioritize features based on customer value, business impact, engineering effort, and strategic importance.
- Work closely with engineering, design, AI, QA, operations, and leadership throughout the product lifecycle.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, product reviews, and release planning.
- Make informed trade-offs between speed, quality, complexity, and long-term product vision.
- Design end-to-end user journeys and continuously improve user experience.
- Define product success metrics and monitor feature adoption, engagement, retention, and business impact.
- Use qualitative and quantitative insights to recommend product improvements.
- Identify product risks, edge cases, dependencies, and operational bottlenecks before development begins.
- Continuously challenge assumptions and validate ideas through experiments and user feedback.
- Ensure every feature being built has a clear customer problem, measurable success criteria, and business justification.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for individuals with exceptional product sense rather than impressive resumes.
You should enjoy asking why before discussing how.
Ideal candidates demonstrate curiosity, structured thinking, strong communication, and sound judgment.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Economics, Design, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to break down complex problems into clear, actionable requirements.
- Strong consumer psychology and customer empathy.
- High product intuition and an instinct for identifying what creates customer value.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to balance short-term execution and long-term vision.
- Ability to make decisions despite ambiguity and incomplete information.
- Strong ownership mindset and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with highly cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize effectively rather than simply collecting feature requests.
- Familiarity with Agile product development methodologies is preferred.
- Basic understanding of software development, APIs, databases, AI systems, or modern web applications is a plus.
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Notion, Figma, Miro, Excel, or similar collaboration tools is preferred.
- Previous internship, startup, entrepreneurial, hackathon, or product-building experience is highly preferred.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
You are likely to succeed if you naturally:
- Think from the customer's perspective before proposing solutions.
- Ask thoughtful questions instead of making assumptions.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Prioritize ruthlessly and focus on high-impact work.
- Notice friction in user experiences that others overlook.
- Balance user needs, engineering constraints, and business goals.
- Take ownership without waiting for detailed instructions.
- Learn quickly, adapt rapidly, and enjoy solving ambiguous problems.
- Care deeply about building products that people genuinely love using.
What You'll Gain
- Hands-on ownership of real product initiatives rather than shadowing senior team members.
- Exposure to AI products, enterprise software, and modern product development practices.
- Direct collaboration with founders, engineers, designers, and business teams.
- Experience in customer discovery, product strategy, business analysis, roadmap planning, and product execution.
- Opportunity to influence products used by real customers from day one.
- Mentorship in product thinking, decision-making, communication, and leadership.
- A fast-paced environment where your ideas can become shipped product features.
