Job Title: SCADA Operator
Department: Operations / Utilities / Plant Operations

Budget: 8 – 9 LPA
Reports To: Shift Supervisor / Operations Manager
Job Summary
The SCADA Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and operating systems through the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platform. The role involves real-time monitoring of equipment, responding to alarms, maintaining operational records, and ensuring safe and efficient system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control plant, utility, or network operations using the SCADA system.
- Analyze real-time data and respond promptly to alarms, alerts, and system abnormalities.
- Maintain continuous surveillance of operational parameters and equipment status.
- Coordinate with field operators, maintenance teams, and supervisors to resolve operational issues.
- Record operational events, incidents, and shift activities in logs and reports.
- Perform system checks and ensure data accuracy within the SCADA platform.
- Escalate critical issues according to established procedures.
- Support preventive maintenance activities by providing operational data and system information.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports as required.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment and communication system failures.
- Participate in emergency response and incident management activities.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience operating SCADA systems in industries such as power generation, water treatment, manufacturing, oil & gas, or utilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, RTUs, and communication networks.
- Proficiency in computer applications and SCADA software.
- Preferred First-Class Boiler Operator Certificate of Competency issued by the relevant Boiler Authority.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret process diagrams, control logic, and technical documentation.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and operational procedures.
Preferred Experience
- 5 - 18 years of experience in SCADA operations or control room operations.
- Experience with SCADA platforms such as Wonderware, Siemens WinCC, GE iFIX, or similar systems.
- Familiarity with industrial automation and process control environments.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- System uptime and operational efficiency.
- Response time to alarms and incidents.
- Accuracy of operational records and reports.
- Compliance with safety and operational procedures.
- Reduction in operational disruptions and downtime.
