Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As a Deputy Manager in Tractor Assembly at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will spearhead efforts to effectively manage and control manufacturing costs by enhancing productivity across the assembly line. Your key responsibilities will include:

Planning, monitoring, and controlling departmental budgets to ensure optimal utilization of resources and cost efficiency.
Driving continuous cost reduction initiatives focusing on minimizing scrap, consumables, and manpower wastage.
Achieving and maintaining a Standard Parts Reliability (SPR) improvement target exceeding 90, ensuring high-quality output and operational efficiencies.
Conducting thorough analysis of defects data to identify root causes and implement robust countermeasures that improve product quality and process reliability.
Leading efforts to analyze market complaints, ensuring timely resolution and proactive monitoring to prevent recurrence.
Providing dynamic leadership to the Assembly manufacturing team to successfully manage and meet targets related to Product Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale (PQCDSM).
Coordinating cross-functionally with internal departments, external partners, and vendors to foster collaborative improvement initiatives and streamline production workflows.
Overseeing new product development processes, including product establishment and smooth transition to mass production phases.
Implementing and adhering to structured training programs for both workers and staff to enhance skills, safety awareness, and productivity.
Managing daily manpower requirements while resolving conflicts efficiently to maintain a positive working environment and enhance team morale.
Inspiring and motivating team members by setting clear performance expectations, providing continuous feedback, and conducting performance reviews aligned with organizational objectives.
Performing gap analyses to identify causes of production losses, quality deviations, and equipment breakdowns, followed by devising corrective action plans.
Ensuring the synchronization and availability of parts across various tractor models to avoid bottlenecks and support uninterrupted production schedules.

This role requires strong communication and leadership aptitude, a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to drive operational excellence in a high-paced manufacturing environment. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining Mahindra’s commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction in the farm division.

Education Qualification

The ideal candidate will possess a robust educational background in engineering relevant to the role, including but not limited to:

Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) with a specialization in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or related disciplines.
Educational qualifications should be from accredited and recognized institutions that prepare candidates with strong technical fundamentals applicable to manufacturing and assembly operations.

Additional certifications or training in manufacturing process management, quality control, lean manufacturing, or project management will be considered advantageous to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and methodologies within the manufacturing domain is essential for long-term success in this position.

General Experience

The candidate should bring a comprehensive general experience spanning three to seven years in manufacturing environments, ideally within sectors closely aligned to automotive or farm machinery production. Key aspects of the general experience requirement include:

Hands-on involvement in production operations focusing on assembly line management, cost control, and quality assurance.
Practical exposure to managing cross-functional teams, implementing process improvements, and adhering to safety compliance standards in industrial settings.
Ability to interpret data analytics related to production efficiency, defect rates, and customer complaints with a view to initiating improvements.
Experience working within structured organizational hierarchies and collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including vendors and internal departments.

Demonstrated experience in new product introduction and mass production initiation within manufacturing operations.
