Position Summary
The Assistant Manager – Product Engineering plays a key role in driving innovation, ensuring customer requirements are met, and collaborating with operations to design products for efficient manufacturing. The role involves working on multiple projects, delivering engineering objectives, and contributing to the organization’s long-term strategy through innovative and practical engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, or participate in product development activities including:
- Concept, planning, design, and execution of new products and enhancements
- 2D and 3D CAD design, drawings, and modeling
- Risk assessment and design reviews
- Prototyping, testing, and pilot production
- Design verification, validation, and usability testing
- Pre-production activities
- Respond to RFQs (Requests for Quotation) from the Sales team:
- Conduct feasibility studies
- Develop conceptual designs and revisions
- Prepare cost-effective design blueprints
- Support production to improve lead times and efficiency
- Improve product reliability and reduce warranty issues
- Coordinate with suppliers and support purchasing activities
- Drive innovation and product development by generating creative engineering solutions
- Identify and implement design improvements (cost, functionality, manufacturability)
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates and technical recommendations
- Promote and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Create and maintain process documentation and SOPs
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies
Education & Experience Requirements
- BE / ME in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering
- 3–5 years of relevant experience (preferably in pneumatic and hydraulic products)
Skills & Technical Requirements
- Proficiency in Creo (version 5.0 or above)
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
- Understanding of FEA tools (e.g., Ansys, Pro-Mechanica)
- Knowledge of:
- Plastic, sheet metal, rubber part design
- Casting processes
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 standards
