Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Export Pricing Head with strong expertise in international freight forwarding and ocean export pricing. The candidate will be responsible for managing export pricing activities, negotiating competitive freight rates, maintaining healthy margins, and developing strong commercial relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Export Pricing function for FCL, LCL, DG, OOG, heavy-weight and special cargo shipments.
- Obtain, negotiate and maintain competitive ocean freight rates from shipping lines, NVOCCs and overseas agents.
- Manage spot rates, contract rates, tenders, RFQs and project shipment pricing.
- Prepare and submit accurate and commercially viable quotations to customers and the sales team.
- Ensure healthy gross margins on every shipment while maintaining market competitiveness.
- Monitor daily/weekly changes in freight markets, including GRI, PSS, congestion surcharges, war-risk surcharges, equipment shortages and peak-season fluctuations.
- Maintain an updated database of carrier rates, local charges, surcharges, free days and validity periods.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines and key service providers to secure competitive rates and space allocations.
- Negotiate special rates and commercial arrangements for large-volume, strategic and project cargo shipments.
- Analyse market rates and competitor pricing to recommend appropriate selling rates.
- Coordinate closely with the Sales and Operations teams to ensure quoted rates are commercially accurate and operationally feasible.
- Review and approve pricing before submission for key customers and high-value shipments.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and margin improvement through alternate carriers, routings and service providers.
- Handle urgent and last-minute rate requests and provide timely quotations to customers.
- Monitor shipment profitability against quoted rates and identify pricing leakages and margin erosion.
- Establish pricing guidelines and approval matrices for the team.
- Lead and mentor the pricing team and ensure timely response to all rate enquiries.
- Prepare weekly/monthly pricing and profitability reports for management.
- Develop pricing strategies for new trade lanes, customers and business opportunities.
- Ensure all quotations clearly mention validity, inclusions/exclusions, surcharges, payment terms and applicable conditions.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 5–6 years of experience in Export Pricing / Freight Forwarding Shipping.
- Strong experience in Ocean Freight Pricing and Rate Negotiation.
- Excellent knowledge of international shipping markets and major trade lanes.
- Strong relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs and overseas agents.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial skills.
- Strong understanding of FCL, LCL, DG, OOG, heavy cargo and project cargo pricing.
- Ability to analyse market trends and competitor pricing.
- Strong knowledge of freight calculations, local charges and surcharges.
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and customer-handling skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple urgent rate enquiries.
- Experience in China–India, China–USA, India–USA, Middle East and Africa trade lanes will be an added advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile :
1) Experiecne of minimum 3-5 years in Sea Export Pricing.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
