Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Manage job cost accounting and ensure accurate tracking of project costs, budgets, and forecasts.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the Board of Directors.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and present findings to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure profitability.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and software specific to the construction industry (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar).
- Train, mentor, and develop accounting staff to ensure a high-performing and cohesive team.
- Assist in financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in construction accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
