Job Summary
The OT Anesthesia Technician is responsible for assisting anesthesiologists in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of anesthesia during surgical procedures. The role involves preparing anesthesia equipment, ensuring the availability of medications and supplies, maintaining operation theatre readiness, and supporting patient safety before, during, and after surgery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and check anesthesia machines, ventilators, monitors, and related equipment before each procedure.
- Assist the anesthesiologist during the induction, maintenance, and recovery phases of anesthesia.
- Ensure the availability and proper functioning of anesthesia drugs, airway equipment, and emergency resuscitation equipment.
- Prepare and maintain anesthesia workstations in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation before anesthesia administration.
- Monitor anesthesia equipment during procedures and report any malfunctions immediately.
- Maintain adequate stock of anesthesia supplies, medications, and consumables.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain anesthesia equipment after each procedure.
- Assist in emergency situations, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and trauma cases.
- Coordinate with surgeons, OT nurses, biomedical engineers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth OT operations.
- Maintain accurate records of anesthesia equipment maintenance, inventory, and daily checklists.
- Follow infection prevention, biomedical waste management, and patient safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in OT quality improvement initiatives and mandatory training programs.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Anesthesia Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, or a related allied health science field.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician in a multispecialty hospital or surgical center.
- Fresh graduates with relevant clinical training may also be considered.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of anesthesia equipment, airway management devices, and patient monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with anesthesia drugs and emergency protocols.
- Understanding of infection control and sterile techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic anesthesia equipment issues.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good organizational and inventory management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively during emergencies.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
