Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
Lead end-to-end Product Cost Management for BIW, Seats, GSM and Hydraulics commodities, ensuring achievement of business case targets, cost competitiveness and value optimization across all vehicle programs. Drive should-costing, value engineering, benchmarking and digitization initiatives while partnering with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing and Suppliers to deliver sustainable cost advantages.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
1. Product Cost Management & Business Case Delivery
- Drive achievement of material cost targets for all AD, FD, EV & LMM programs within < 1% deviation from Business Case
- Own Business Case preparation, validation, and convergence with CFT teams
- Ensure timely SBC (Should Be Cost) and ROCM closure at all project stages
- Provide cost visibility, risk assessment, and mitigation for ongoing projects
2. Commodity Ownership – BIW
o BIW Structures, Body Panels, Closures and Assemblies
o Seat Frames, Mechanisms, Foam, Trims and Complete Seating Systems
o GSM Components including Fabricated Parts, Structural Assemblies and Sheet Metal Components
o Hydraulic Pumps, Valves, Cylinders, Hoses and Hydraulic Assemblies
- Develop robust process-based cost models for all commodities.
- Drive Design-to-Cost initiatives by influencing engineering and sourcing decisions.
- Establish commodity-wise cost standards and technical cost drivers.
3. Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
- Identify and deliver cost reduction / avoidance opportunities across lifecycle (target multi-crore savings)
- Drive benchmarking (internal & external) and cost convergence initiatives
- Develop and maintain commodity cost repositories and knowledge databases.
- Support localization and alternate sourcing initiatives to enhance competitiveness.
- Deliver annual savings targets through value engineering and supplier collaboration
4. Cross Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with PD, CDMM, SSU, Logistics, Finance and suppliers for first-time-right costing
- Act as the single-point owner for BIW, Seats, GSM and Hydraulics commodities across vehicle platforms.
- Support sourcing negotiations through analytical costing and fact-based commercial inputs.
- Drive alignment between program targets, sourcing strategy and product engineering requirements
5. Digitization & Capability Building
- Lead digitization initiatives including cost modelling tools, analytics, automation and AI-based costing solutions.
- Develop standard costing methodologies, guidelines and governance frameworks.
- Build commodity cost databases and benchmark repositories.
- Improve team capability through knowledge sharing, standardization and mentoring.
- Drive adoption of digital PCM tools across teams.
6. New Technology & Future Readiness
- Evaluate and enable costing for lightweight BIW solutions, advanced seat technologies, automated fabrication processes and electro-hydraulic systems.
- Benchmark emerging technologies and manufacturing innovations to support future programs.
- Support innovation at the right cost aligned with CPO and Business Case expectations.
- Build future-ready commodity costing capability to support EV and next-generation vehicle platforms.
