You will work on a variety of projects and be presented with the challenge of determining at a detailed level how an array of applications will be integrated across both cloud and on-premise. Further, you will be hands-on in leading aspects of development and reviewing the work of others to ensure it is well written, secure and robust.
Work you'll do
Your role will focus on helping our internal teams architect and develop solutions which meet business requirements to enhance applications across our entire estate. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders, including Business Stakeholders, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers and Testers across the whole project lifecycle. You will liaise closely with other team members and deliver high quality software.

Drive the adoption and effective use of AI-assisted engineering tools and practices

Liaising with Business Analysts to understand business requirements and with Solution Architects on function and technical designs

Supporting the Delivery Lead / Project Manager with scoping and estimation of development efforts

Working collaboratively with test teams during the Product test and UAT phases to fix assigned bugs

Developing specifications and detailed design documents

Coding, testing and debugging complex applications

Enforcing coding standards and performing code reviews

Ensuring quality of coded components by performing thorough unit testing

Working independently with limited support, while aligned to the weekly and daily agile governance

Qualifications
Required:

Can-do, pragmatic, hands-on and innovative style of working

A minimum of 8 years of developer / programming experience

Strong proficiency in Python for backend development, including experience with frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask
-
Extensive experience with React, TypeScript and Node.js
-
Proficient in using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub CoPilot, Claude Code or Cursor
-
Experience of working with Azure DevOps
-
Experience working with business users/stakeholders to understand business problems, gather requirements and developing design documents including functional and technical specifications

Development of PAAS based solutions focusing on Azure and/or AWS
-
Understanding of methodologies such as Agile and Scrum
-
Strong understanding of design patterns and SOLID principles
-
Demonstrated experience of integrating multiple complex systems, using a wide range of tools and techniques including the use of an enterprise service bus and messaging

Experience working as a developer or an application architect through system development, migrations, updates or implementations

Ability to perform code and design reviews

Demonstrated understanding of code analysis, code conversation and automated testing tools

Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to articulate solutions to a senior as well as a detailed/technical audience

Experience working within software development or SaaS / cloud architecture groups

Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies, learn quickly and pass on this knowledge onto other team members

Working knowledge of DevOps/Application Lifecycle Management tools, particularly Azure DevOps, and automation and methodologies used to deploy solutions within a Cloud platform and on-premises

Coaching the team in to following best practices and new ways of working

Demonstrated ability of integrating large enterprise applications
