Role Description
The SMT Operator is responsible for operating and setting up Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment to manufacture printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role ensures efficient machine operation, accurate material handling, first-pass quality, preventive maintenance, and compliance with ESD, IPC, SOP, and 5S practices to achieve production and quality objectives.
Desired Experience
- 1–5 years of hands-on experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing or electronics production.
- Experience operating SMT equipment such as Solder Paste Printer, SPI, Pick & Place Machine, Reflow Oven, AOI Machine, and PCB Loader/Unloader.
- Experience in machine setup, feeder loading, reel loading, recipe verification, and product changeovers.
- Familiarity with handling electronic components, PCBs, ESD-sensitive devices, and Moisture Sensitive Devices (MSDs).
- Experience in monitoring production output, recording production data, and maintaining machine logbooks.
- Basic knowledge of SMT machine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance activities.
- Experience in first-board inspection, defect identification, and quality monitoring in accordance with IPC standards.
- Familiarity with production documentation, FIFO practices, 5S, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Experience working in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate SMT production equipment as per approved work instructions and production plans.
- Start and monitor production according to work orders.
- Achieve daily production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor machine alarms and perform basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
