Job Summary:
Perform high-quality welding on piping systems, structural steel, and pressure-containing components using Arc Welding (SMAW) techniques in the 6GR position. Ensure welds meet project specifications, industry codes, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Arc (SMAW) welding in the 6GR position on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel materials.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric drawings, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and fabrication plans.
- Prepare, align, fit-up, and tack weld pipes and structural components before welding.
- Execute root pass, fill pass, and cap pass welds according to approved procedures.
- Inspect weld joints for defects such as porosity, undercut, lack of fusion, and slag inclusions.
- Carry out repair welding when required.
- Operate and maintain welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, and hand tools.
- Ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, API, or project-specific welding codes.
- Support visual inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) activities.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- Valid 6GR welding qualification/certification.
- Strong knowledge of SMAW (Stick Welding) processes and electrodes such as E6010 and E7018.
- Ability to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and quality standards.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and challenging site conditions.
Qualifications
- ITI / Vocational Certificate in Welding or equivalent.
- 1–5+ years of experience in pipe welding or structural welding.
- Valid 6GR certification from recognized standards such as AWS, ASME, or equivalent project requirements.
Pay: ₹26,000.00 - ₹32,000.00 per month
