ABOUT STRATUM DEFENSE TECHNOLOGY
Stratum Defense Technology LLP is an Indian defence technology company building autonomous systems for the Indian armed forces. We are at the founding stage, developing India's first indigenous autonomous undersea vehicle under the iDEX ADITI 4 programme. NSTL Visakhapatnam (DRDO) has issued a formal Letter of Support for our application.
We are headquartered in New Delhi with programme operations at Visakhapatnam. The people joining now will be present at every significant programme milestone.
---
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will build the navigation stack and multi-vehicle coordination layer for an autonomous undersea system. The navigation work involves sensor fusion for GPS-denied underwater operation. The coordination work involves autonomous role assignment and fault-tolerant tasking across a fleet of vehicles operating together.
You will also build and maintain the hardware-in-the-loop test bench from the design phase onward, before physical hardware is available for integration.
Full technical scope shared under NDA at first interview stage.
---
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement multi-vehicle coordination: autonomous role assignment, fault-tolerant re-tasking, fleet state management
- Develop the navigation interface layer connecting inertial navigation, velocity sensing, depth control, and propulsion
- Implement the vehicle state machine across all operating modes
- Develop waypoint navigation, depth-hold, and current compensation algorithms
- Implement sensor fusion for GPS-denied navigation with defined accuracy targets
- Build and maintain the hardware-in-the-loop test bench
- Lead software integration at system acceptance test
---

- Autonomous systems or robotics: path planning, state machines, multi-agent coordination
- ROS, ROS2, or equivalent autonomous vehicle middleware
- C++ or Python for real-time embedded or robotics applications
- Kalman filtering fundamentals for sensor fusion
---
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE
- AUV, UAV, or autonomous ground vehicle navigation stack
- Extended or Unscented Kalman Filter for INS/DVL sensor fusion
- Safety-critical RTOS experience
- IIT Madras Autonomous Systems Lab, ideaForge, DRDO CAIR, or equivalent background
