Job Summary
The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Environment, Health & Safety systems to ensure safe working conditions, environmental compliance, and adherence to all statutory and legal requirements within the manufacturing facility. The role includes safety management, environmental protection, occupational health, legal liaisoning, audit management, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement of EHS culture.
Key Responsibilities1. Environment, Health & Safety Management
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs across the plant.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards and government regulations.
- Conduct workplace hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA).
- Monitor unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and “Zero Accident” environment.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and machine safety systems.
2. Statutory Compliance & Legal Liaisoning
- Ensure compliance with:
- Factory Act
- Pollution Control Board norms
- Hazardous Waste Rules
- Fire Safety regulations
- Labor laws related to health and safety
- Liaise with government authorities including:
- Pollution Control Board (PCB)
- Factory Inspector
- Fire Department
- Labor Department
- Local Environmental Authorities
- Coordinate statutory inspections and regulatory audits.
- Obtain and renew licenses, permits, consents, and statutory approvals.
- Maintain statutory registers, legal documents, and compliance records.
- Submit required reports and returns to government authorities on time.
- Monitor updates in EHS laws and ensure plant compliance accordingly.
3. Safety Operations
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses using RCA techniques.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor contractor safety management.
- Ensure implementation of:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Work Permit System
- Confined Space Safety
- Electrical Safety
- Hot Work Safety
- Chemical Safety
- Review safety performance indicators and KPIs.
4. Environmental Management
- Monitor air emissions, wastewater discharge, noise levels, and waste disposal.
- Ensure proper hazardous waste handling and disposal practices.
- Manage environmental monitoring and pollution control systems.
- Coordinate environmental audits and sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
5. Occupational Health Management
- Organize employee health checkups and occupational health monitoring.
- Monitor exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and noise.
- Coordinate with medical staff for occupational illness prevention.
- Promote ergonomics and employee wellness programs.
6. Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Conduct mock drills for fire, chemical spills, and emergency evacuation.
- Ensure maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment.
- Coordinate with external emergency services when required.
7. Training & Awareness
- Conduct EHS induction programs for employees and contractors.
- Deliver regular safety training and toolbox talks.
- Build awareness on environmental and occupational health topics.
- Train employees on emergency procedures and safe work practices.
8. ISO Management Systems
- Implement and maintain:
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System)
- ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System)
- Lead internal audits and support external certification audits.
- Ensure closure of audit findings and continual improvement initiatives.
9. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain EHS records, permits, SOPs, MSDS, audit reports, and incident reports.
- Prepare monthly EHS performance reports and MIS dashboards.
- Track EHS KPIs including:
- LTIFR
- Near Miss Reports
- Training Compliance
- Waste Reduction
- Audit Scores
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Environmental Science / Industrial Safety
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety preferred
- Certifications in ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 preferred
Experience Required
- 8–12 years of experience in manufacturing industry EHS operations
- Experience in automotive/parts manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of statutory compliance and regulatory liaisoning
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
