We are looking for an experienced and motivated Logistics Manager to manage day-to-day freight brokerage operations. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating between shippers, carriers, drivers, and customers, managing loads from booking to delivery, negotiating freight rates, and ensuring shipments are completed safely and on time.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the US freight brokerage and transportation industry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete freight lifecycle from load booking to final delivery.
- Coordinate with shippers to understand load requirements, pickup times, delivery locations, and special instructions.
- Source and coordinate reliable carriers and drivers for available loads.
- Negotiate carrier rates and freight pricing while maintaining company margins.
- Monitor active shipments and provide regular updates to customers and carriers.
- Track trucks and ensure pickups and deliveries happen on schedule.
- Handle delays, breakdowns, detention, layovers, rate confirmations, and other transportation issues.
- Verify carrier information, insurance, authority, and required documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of loads, carriers, rates, invoices, and delivery documents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers and carriers.
- Communicate professionally with customers, carriers, dispatchers, and drivers.
- Follow up on PODs (Proof of Delivery) and ensure all paperwork is completed.
- Coordinate with the accounting team regarding carrier payments and customer invoices.
- Monitor profit margins on each shipment and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Maintain daily load and shipment reports.
- Resolve customer and carrier disputes quickly and professionally.
- Ensure all operations follow company procedures and applicable transportation regulations.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, or supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of the US trucking and freight market.
- Experience working with shippers, carriers, dispatchers, and drivers.
- Knowledge of FTL, LTL, Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed, and other freight types.
- Experience with load boards and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of freight rates, lanes, and carrier operations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple loads simultaneously.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and basic reporting.
