You will do:
Conduct advanced research in cloud, compute, and distributed systems technologies for future telecom networks.- Explore and solve complex, open-ended research challenges in areas such as Advanced Cloud Hardware or Federated AI Compute.
- Design, execute, and drive technical studies, proofs of concept, and innovation initiatives.
- Develop novel solutions that contribute to patents, publications, standards, and business value.
- Collaborate with researchers, product teams, and external stakeholders across Ericsson's global network.
- Contribute to technology strategy and help shape the evolution of intelligent, high-performance network infrastructure.
- Support standardization and ecosystem activities, including contributions to industry forums and organizations such as 3GPP.
- Delivering high-quality research outcomes, publications, patents, and innovation disclosures.
- Contributing to technical studies and proof-of-concept activities within the first 6 months.
- Driving impactful research initiatives and producing tangible results within the first 12 months.
- Building strong collaborations across research, product, and standards communities.
You will bring:
We are looking for research talent—not generic cloud or software engineers—with a strong academic/research foundation in compute systems.- Candidates should have an MSc/MTech/MRes/PhD/PostDoc from a leading research institution, with demonstrated research capability in high-performance computing, distributed systems, computer architecture, cloud/compute infrastructure, virtualization, AI systems, or federated/distributed AI. We value candidates who can independently identify important technical problems, develop novel solutions, and demonstrate their validity through rigorous analysis, experimentation, or prototypes.
Research Excellence:
Ability to identify significant technical problems and formulate novel research questions.- Strong analytical, experimental, and problem-solving capability.
- Evidence of research output or technical innovation.
Compute & Systems:
Deep understanding of at least one relevant compute/systems area rather than broad familiarity with many technologies.- Strong programming/prototyping capability and experience working with real systems or experimental platforms.
Research Impact:
Ability to turn research into prototypes, patents, publications, standards contributions, or technology concepts.- Ability to collaborate with researchers across disciplines and geographies.
