We seek an expert Platform Engineer to join our team dedicated to services supporting Engineering Platform Access. The role involves building and maintaining a secure and scalable Linux VDI environment using Rocket Software’s Exceed TurboX. This environment allows global engineering teams to reliably access high-performance computing environments crucial for developing next-generation products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Linux systems administration, DevOps, cloud platforms (public and private), networking, system monitoring, and support for operations. You will be responsible for developing, deploying, and improving the infrastructure for Engineering Platform Access (Linux VD). Focus areas include availability, security, performance, and user experience. You will tackle sophisticated infrastructure and application challenges, perform root cause analysis, lead post-incident reviews, automate to reduce operational workload, and continually improve platform dependability through enhanced monitoring, self-service, and engineering methods.
- Operate and enhance Arm’s Exceed TurboX (ETX) services on Linux, including dashboards, connection nodes, desktop profiles, session workflows, login and VS Code servers, scheduled services, and user-facing infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve ETX and Linux desktop issues involving session launches, profiles, displays, performance, client caching, connectivity, and user environments.
- Provide secure, reliable, and scalable access to engineering environments across on-premises HPC clusters, cloud-hosted SCEs, AWS, GCP, and segmented networks.
- Lead infrastructure and deployment automation using Terraform, Ansible, Python, shell scripting, APIs, and GitLab CI/CD, supported by Infrastructure-as-Code, DevOps, and GitOps practices.
- Strengthen service reliability and operational efficiency through observability and AIOps solutions, incident analysis, root-cause resolution, and preventive improvements.
- Plan and manage infrastructure capacity, deployments, and lifecycle activities to ensure engineering teams have the compute, connectivity, and resources they need.
- Create and maintain clear operational resources, including runbooks, standard procedures, known-error articles, support playbooks, onboarding materials, and self-service guidance.
- Partner with engineering, infrastructure, security, cloud, and customer support teams to improve platform architecture, automation, operational processes, and the user experience.
- Experience supporting Linux VDI or remote visualization platforms such as OpenText/Rocket Exceed TurboX (ETX), Citrix, or similar technologies, with familiarity with ThinX, HDX, PCoIP, or related protocols.
- Experience managing distributed Linux environments across on-premises, HPC, hybrid-cloud, or multi-cloud infrastructure. Semiconductor, EDA, or engineering compute experience is beneficial.
- Proficiency in automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, GitLab CI/CD, and REST APIs, including Infrastructure-as-Code, configuration management, and automated deployment practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or OpenStack, including secrets management, Vault, or serverless automation.
- Familiarity with HPC workload management tools, such as IBM Spectrum LSF or comparable schedulers, and enterprise engineering access platforms.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Splunk, CloudWatch, or similar tools.
- Understanding of SRE and modern operations practices, including incident resolution, capacity management, AIOps, policy-based automation, self-healing services, and operational toil reduction.
- Relevant training or certifications in Linux, cloud, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, ITIL, SRE, or security are helpful but not required.
- Certifications in Linux System Administration, DevOps, AWS, GCP, Azure, and Kubernetes are greatly appreciated.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure deployments and support in a multi-cloud environment.
- Familiarity with software development tools and practices, and exposure to cloud-native ecosystem.
