**About the Role**
We are looking for a Quantum Research Scientist to join our startup and help develop intelligent solutions for quantum computing systems. This role focuses on adaptive noise modelling, decoder optimization, and the application of AI/ML techniques to improve the reliability and performance of quantum computations.
As an early team member, you will work closely with founders and engineers to tackle complex research challenges and translate novel ideas into practical technologies. We are seeking someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment, can operate independently, and enjoys building from the ground up.
** Responsibilities**
* Research and develop adaptive noise modelling techniques for quantum computing systems.
* Design and optimize decoders using statistical, computational, and machine learning approaches.
* Apply AI/ML methods to characterize, predict, and mitigate the impact of noise in quantum systems.
* Develop simulations and models of quantum hardware behavior and error processes.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate research outcomes into scalable solutions.
* Stay current with advances in quantum computing, quantum information science, and AI/ML.
* Contribute to research publications, patents, and technical documentation where appropriate.
**Required Qualifications**
* PhD in Quantum Physics, Quantum Computing, Quantum Information Science, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or a related field; OR
* Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant research or industry experience.
* Strong background in quantum computing and quantum information science.
* Experience with probabilistic modelling, statistical analysis, or computational physics.
* Proficiency in Python and scientific computing tools.
* Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
* Demonstrated research experience through publications, industry R&D, or equivalent technical contributions.
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience in quantum noise characterization, noise modelling, decoder development, or fault-tolerant quantum computing.
* Experience applying machine learning to physics, optimization, or complex systems.
* Familiarity with quantum computing frameworks such as Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, or QuTiP.
* Experience with large-scale simulations, graph-based methods, or high-performance computing.
