Die Fitter / Mould & Die Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, maintaining, and repairing moulds and dies used in manufacturing processes such as press tools, injection moulding, casting, or forging. The role ensures accuracy, quality, and smooth production with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, fit, and install moulds and dies as per drawings and specifications
- Perform trial runs and make necessary adjustments for accuracy and performance
- Repair, service, and maintain moulds and dies to ensure longer tool life
- Identify defects, wear, or damage and carry out corrective actions
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Use hand tools, measuring instruments, grinders, milling machines, and lathes
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to resolve tooling issues
- Maintain records of tool maintenance and modifications
- Follow safety standards and housekeeping practices in the tool room
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of moulds, dies, press tools, and fixtures
- Proficiency in precision measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, gauges)
- Good understanding of machining and fitting techniques
- Ability to troubleshoot tooling-related production problems
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Team player with good communication skills
Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Tool & Die Making, or relevant trade
- Certification in Tool Room / Die & Mould Making preferred
Experience
- 2–8 years of relevant experience in mould fitting or die fitting
- Experience in manufacturing / tool room environment preferred
