Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor (QS) to manage project costing, estimation, billing, and cost control activities for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are executed within budget while maintaining quality standards and maximizing profitability. The candidate will work closely with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, subcontractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimation & Cost Planning
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and project budgets.
- Estimate material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project costs.
Tendering & Procurement
- Prepare tender documents and invite quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Evaluate and compare quotations to recommend cost-effective procurement decisions.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Assist in vendor negotiations and subcontract finalization.
Billing & Contract Management
- Prepare and verify client running account (RA) bills and final bills.
- Prepare and certify subcontractor and supplier bills.
- Verify site measurements and completed work quantities.
- Manage variation orders, additional work claims, and contract amendments.
- Maintain all contract-related documentation and records.
Cost Control & Project Monitoring
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Track material consumption, wastage, and resource utilization.
- Prepare cost variance reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist project managers in improving project profitability.
- Monitor cash flow related to project execution.
Site Coordination
- Conduct regular site visits to verify work progress and measurements.
- Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, architects, and consultants.
- Resolve quantity and billing-related issues during project execution.
- Ensure work measurements comply with approved drawings and specifications.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain BOQs, estimates, billing records, and cost reports.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project cost reports for management.
- Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining complete project records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Experience in residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, estimation, and billing.
- Experience with client billing, subcontractor billing, and cost management.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying software.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and project costing.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.
