An X-ray technician is a healthcare professional who specializes in performing diagnostic imaging procedures using X-ray machines. They are trained to capture high-quality images of a patient’s internal structures, which are then analyzed by physicians to diagnose and treat medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating X-ray Equipment: Positioning and adjusting X-ray machines to capture clear images of the patient’s body.
- Patient Preparation: Explaining the procedure to patients, ensuring their comfort, and positioning them correctly for the X-ray.
- Safety Protocols: Ensuring that radiation exposure is minimized for both the patient and the technician by using lead aprons, shielding, and following safety guidelines.
- Image Quality Control: Evaluating images to ensure they are of high diagnostic quality and, if necessary, retaking images.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of the procedures performed and the images taken.
- Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Sharing X-ray results with doctors and other healthcare professionals to assist in diagnosing and planning treatment.
