Job Title: EHS Manager
Location: Boisar (Tarapur MIDC), Maharashtra
Reports to: Site Head / Director
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory & Statutory Compliance
- Liaisoning: Act as the primary point of contact for government bodies, including the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health (DISH), and the local Fire Department.
- Permits: Manage and renew all environmental consents (Consents to Establish/Operate) and ensure compliance with the Factories Act, 1948.
- Documentation: Maintain all statutory registers, prepare environmental statements, and ensure timely submission of EHS-related returns.
2. Operational Safety & Risk Management
- HIRA & JSA: Conduct comprehensive Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all API manufacturing processes.
- Process Safety: Oversee safety protocols for hazardous chemical handling, high-pressure reactions, and solvent recovery systems.
- Work Permits: Implement and audit the Permit to Work (PTW) system, including Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, and Height Work.
- Audits: Lead regular internal safety audits and coordinate external ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits.
3. Environmental Management
- Effluent Treatment: Oversee the operation of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems, ensuring treated water meets MPCB standards.
- Waste Management: Manage hazardous waste storage and disposal as per CHWTSDF norms.
- Monitoring: Conduct regular monitoring of ambient air quality, stack emissions, and noise levels.
4. Incident Management & Training
- Investigation: Lead root cause analysis for all incidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences using techniques like "5-Why" or Fishbone diagrams.
- CAPA: Ensure the timely implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions.
- Training: Design and deliver EHS induction for new employees/contractors and periodic refresher training on firefighting, chemical spill handling, and first aid.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education B.E./B.Tech (Chemical/Environment) or M.Sc (Chemistry) plus ADIS (Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety) from a Govt. recognized institute (e.g., CLI/RLI/MSBTE).
- Experience 10–15+ years in EHS, with at least 5 years in a Managerial role within the API, Bulk Drug, or Specialty Chemical industry.
- Technical Skills Deep knowledge of chemical unit operations, fire hydrants, ETP operations, and MPCB/DISH regulations.
- Soft Skills Strong leadership, effective communication in Hindi/Marathi/English, and ability to influence safety culture at the shop floor level.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAP EHS module.
- Familiarity with international standards like PSM (Process Safety Management) and Responsible Care.
- Experience in handling inspections from global pharmaceutical clients.
