Job Description and Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Assistant manager in Data Engineering
Stakeholder Alignment: Attend all FTE connects without fail, translating requirements into actionable technical solutions and clear instructions for the offshore team.
Daily Standup Leadership: Drive the Daily Standup calls to monitor progress, identify bottlenecks, and ensure the sprint remains on track.
Hands-on Technical Leadership & Problem Ownership: Expected to dedicate 50% of bandwidth to hands-on tasks (or as agreed with onsite leads). Functions as the dedicated first point of contact for all technical impediments, taking full ownership of problem-solving and troubleshooting before escalating to the onsite level
Documentation & Hygiene: Ensure every bug or task is updated daily (or at the agreed frequency). Review all team comments for accuracy and professional clarity before they are finalized in the bug tracker or daily status documents.
Adherence to Standards: Enforce coding, dashboard, and naming standards across the team to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
Validation Review: Conduct rigorous reviews of all technical designs and validations developed by offshore team members to ensure technical accuracy.
Offshore Task Transition: Schedule daily placeholder calls with onsite leads to review, update, and transition P0 tasks completed by the offshore team for that day.
Sprint Closure: Conduct a comprehensive review of all tasks at the end of the sprint. Ensure all bugs are closed; any carry-over items must include a documented, valid justification and an updated ETA.
Reporting: Prepare and distribute the "End of Sprint" summary report to the Onsite Lead, specifically highlighting the status of open, closed, or deferred tasks.
Resource Planning: Manage team leave schedules by ensuring robust backup planning is in place and that every team member strictly follows the established leave process.
Process Improvement: Continuously refine validation and peer-review workflows to minimize defect leakage and improve delivery metrics.
Knowledge transfer: Conduct and lead KT sessions between pods to cross-pollinate ideas and execution details. Mentor and encourage team members to participate in KT sessions and encourage research and learning.
Sprint Planning: At the beginning of each sprint, offshore leads review the progress of all running and carry-over tasks before ensuring that new, high-priority items are allocated to the team on time. To maintain optimal momentum, they continuously monitor execution and dynamically shuffle assignments when necessary to match task requirements with the right team skill sets. Ensure taskflow is updated with correct task allocation and task details at all times (especially during sprint transitions).
