Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Design & Integration Engineer to lead the packaging of complex rotating equipment (Pumps/Compressors) for Refinery / Marine / Chemical / Pharma Projects. The successful candidate will take end-to-end ownership of the machinery skid, integrating mechanical equipment, pressure vessels, piping, instrumentation, and electrical systems into a cohesive, 3D-modeled, and structurally sound package.
Key Responsibilities
1. 3D Modelling & Detailed Design
- Develop comprehensive 3D models of the entire equipment skid, including the primary driver/pump, interconnecting piping, auxiliary vessels (seal pots, lube oil consoles), and structural baseplates.
- Manage spatial integration to ensure maintenance access, ergonomics, and "clash-free" routing of piping, tubing, and electrical conduits.
- Generate fabrication drawings, Isometrics, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
2. Structural Analysis & Simulation
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and quick simulations on the baseplate to ensure structural integrity during lifting, transportation, and various operating conditions.
- Conduct basic vibration and resonance checks to ensure the baseplate design mitigates machinery vibration.
- Validate nozzle loads and equipment alignments within the 3D environment.
3. Multi-Disciplinary Integration
- Piping & Tubing: Design and route small-bore piping and tubing for seal plans (API 682) and cooling water systems Execute "spec-driven" parametric piping routing. You must be able to iterate quickly on piping paths to optimize for space, flow, and ergonomics.
- Pipe Stress Analysis: Perform comprehensive stress simulations (Static and Dynamic) to ensure piping loads on compressor nozzles remain within allowable limits (API 617/618/611).
- E&I Integration: Incorporate cable trays, junction boxes, and local control panels (LCP) into the skid design while maintaining hazardous area classifications.
- Static Equipment Integration: Design the placement of Static Equipment and piping in the package Skids
4. Project Ownership & Compliance
- Act as the Technical Integration Lead, ensuring all components mesh perfectly before the skid hits the shop floor.
- Ensure all designs comply with Client specifications, API standards (e.g., API 610, 674, 676, 614), and OISD requirements.
- Interface with production and quality teams to resolve "as-built" discrepancies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 7+ years in packaging rotating equipment (Pumps, Compressors, or Turbines).
- Software Proficiency: *
- 3D Modelling: Expert level in SolidWorks (Routing, Electrical, P&ID, Simulation, Weldment & Clash Detection)
- Simulation: Proficiency in ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or Staad-Pro for baseplate analysis.
- Standards Knowledge: Deep understanding of API 610 (Centrifugal Pumps), API 682 (Shaft Sealing), and ASME B31.3 (Process Piping).
- PMC (Project Management Consultant) or LSTK (Lump Sum Turnkey) Consultant: Prior experience handling Refinery, offshore, marine or consulted projects and understanding of their documentation/approval workflow is highly preferred.
