Position Overview
The role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate VAT/GST compliance, managing external providers in driving compliance controls, supporting audits, maintaining compliance governance, and leading the Indian tax compliance team. The role is Technical, tax and operational and compliance focused.
This role requires a strong technical accounting foundation, strong understanding of the principle of taxation, both direct and Indirect, and the ability to manage deliveries in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, a controls-focused mindset, stakeholder management skills, and a transformation-oriented approach to support the evolving global structure, including ERP+, SAP S/4HANA, tax systems such as Vertex, and shared services ways of working.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
EMEA VAT Compliance
Manage VAT compliance and reporting activities across EMEA markets.- Review and approve VAT returns prepared by internal teams or external service providers.
- Support VAT registrations, deregistration’s, and compliance projects.
- Ensure timely filing and payment of all indirect tax obligations.
- Provide support on complex VAT matters, cross-border transactions, and supply chain initiatives.
- Partner with regional finance and business teams on VAT-related issues.
- Monitor Compliance Calendars, deadlines and KPIs.
- Review substantial risk filings and compliance issues.
Direct & Indirect Tax – India & Bangladesh
Lead corporate income tax compliance, tax provisions, advance tax calculations, and annual tax return filings.- Manage withholding tax (TDS/WHT) compliance and related reporting requirements.
- Support transfer pricing documentation and compliance activities.
- Monitor tax law changes and assess business impacts.
- Coordinate responses to tax notices, audits, assessments, and litigation matters. Manage tax accounting and reporting requirements under local statutory and U.S. GAAP reporting frameworks.
Direct & Indirect Tax – India & Bangladesh
Oversee GST/VAT compliance, return filings, reconciliations, and tax payments.- Ensure accurate tax treatment of domestic and cross-border transactions.
- Manage indirect tax audits and assessments.
- Drive optimization of tax processes and automation initiatives.
- Maintain strong controls around tax determination, reporting, and documentation.
U.S. State Sales & Use Tax
- Oversee Sales & Use Tax filings across all applicable U.S. states.
- Ensure timely filing, payment, and reconciliation of tax liabilities.
- Support nexus reviews and tax registrations.
- Coordinate state tax audits and inquiries.
Controls & Governance
Maintain compliance review procedures and controls and evidence standards.- Maintain filing and payment evidence in a controlled and well-documented manner.
- Oversee country playbooks and process documentation and compliance dashboards.
- Drive remediation of recurring process, data, and provider issues.
- Support ERP tax controls, reporting exceptions, dashboards, and automation improvements.
- Support the Global VAT Lead in driving end-to-end efficiency, quality improvement, and automation transformation projects, including the new SAP S/4HANA ERP implementation.
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals and allocate resources and balance workload.- Establish clear objectives and performance expectations.
- Build succession plans, develop team capability, and standardize ways of working using AI.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
- Ensure cross-training and business continuity.
Process Improvement & Transformation
Drive standardization, automation, and digitization of tax processes.- Participate in ERP implementations and tax technology initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and reporting accuracy.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; CA, CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.- 10–15 years of progressive experience in managing taxation both direct and Indirect tax areas of working.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or S/4HANA, MSD 365 and tax technology project (Preferred).

Internal: Corporate Controller’s Group, Regional Controllers, Finance Leadership, FP&A, Real Estate, Legal, Capital Management, Procurement, IT, Internal Audit, Lease Administration, and Record to Report teams.- External: External tax auditors, landlords/property managers as needed, lease system/service providers, and other relevant business partners.
