Job Overview
LPL Financial is seeking a Vice President, Data Product Owner (DPO) to lead ownership and strategy for critical enterprise Wealth Management (WM) data products. This role operates at a senior leadership level, with accountability spanning multiple data products or an entire WM data domain.
The VP DPO is responsible for defining product vision, driving enterprise-scale data strategy, and governing high-impact datasets to ensure they are trusted, reusable, and aligned to business and regulatory needs. This role partners closely with executive stakeholders across Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Business leadership to embed data product thinking across the organization.
This is not a reporting or analytics role — it is a strategic product ownership role for enterprise data, with accountability for both business outcomes and data governance at scale.
1. Enterprise Data Product Ownership & Strategy: Own a portfolio of WM data products and/or an entire domain. Define and drive:Enterprise data product vision and roadmap. Cross-domain data standards and usage model. Strategic prioritization aligned to business objectives. Serve as final decision authority on:Fitness-for-purpose at enterprise scale. Access, governance, and acceptable risk thresholds. nvestment prioritization and backlog direction
2. Wealth Management Domain Leadership. Act as senior domain authority across WM data (Clients, Accounts, Transactions, Securities, Advisors). Align data products to:Business strategy and operating model evolutionRegulatory and risk requirements. Enterprise analytics and AI initiatives
Represent WM data in executive governance forums and strategic initiatives. Data
3. Product Lifecycle Leadership. Oversee lifecycle management at scale across multiple products.Ensure consistency and quality of. Data Product Charters and Canvases. Roadmaps, KPIs, and value realization tracking. Ensure data requirements are embedded early in large-scale programs and initiatives
4. Data Quality, Risk & Governance Oversight. Define enterprise-level data quality standards and thresholds. Own governance for Critical Data Elements (CDEs) across domains. Assess and escalate material data risks to senior leadership. Drive remediation strategy for systemic data quality issues
5. Technical Leadership & Partnership. Provide strategic oversight for:Data architecture alignment. Lineage, data contracts, and schema evolution.Partner with engineering leadership to:Align product roadmap with platform capabilities. Evaluate impact of technical changes on enterprise data usage. Drive adoption of governance tooling and automation
6. Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration; Influence and align with: Senior business leaders and product owners. Engineering, Architecture, and Platform leaders. Risk, Compliance, and Legal leadership. Lead and contribute to enterprise Data Product Ownership CoE. Mentor and provide guidance to AVP/VP-level DPOs
