React + Node.js Developer (Contractor) Role Overview We are looking for a highly skilled Full Stack JavaScript Developer with strong expertise in React (frontend) and Node.js (backend)
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
The role involves building scalable IDP web application based on Backstage framework, integrating APIs, optimizing performance, and collaborating with cross functional engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Develop responsive, high quality UI components using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, Redux/Context, and modern React patterns. Build and maintain backend services using Node.js, Express/Nest.js, RESTful APIs, and microservices patterns. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend teams to deliver end to end features. Write clean, maintainable, tested code (Jest, Cypress/Playwright).
Optimize application performance across both frontend and backend. Integrate with internal and external APIs, authentication providers, and cloud platforms. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues. Follow best practices on version control (Git), CI processes, and secure coding. Required Skills & Experience 6–8 years of professional JavaScript/TypeScript development experience. Strong hands on experience with React.js (hooks, state management, component design). Solid backend experience with Node.js, Express, or Nest.js. Excellent understanding of REST APIs, async programming, and event driven architectures. Experience deploying services on AWS/Azure/GCP (any cloud is a plus).
Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL). Strong debugging, problem solving, and performance optimization skills. Nice to Have Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins). Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Splunk, Grafana).

Goals and deliverables
1. Delivery & Execution – Core Engineering Goals: Deliver high quality backend services and frontend features using Node.js and React. Build stable integrations (SCM, CI/CD, internal APIs) that enhance IDP workflows. Ensure accurate and consistent metadata, catalog updates, and platform behavior (even if not building Backstage plugins directly). Deliverables: 90% on time completion of assigned stories and engineering tasks. Stable, well tested backend APIs with proper contracts and error handling. React components/pages aligned with platform UX patterns. Zero production breaking defects; < 2 regressions per quarter.
