Job Summary
The ICU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves continuous patient assessment, administration of medications, operation of critical care equipment, emergency response, and close coordination with consultants and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in accordance with hospital policies and clinical protocols.
- Continuously monitor and assess patients' vital signs, neurological status, and overall clinical condition.
- Administer prescribed medications, intravenous fluids, blood products, and treatments accurately and safely.
- Operate and monitor ICU equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, defibrillators, and suction devices.
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures, intubation, central line insertion, arterial line insertion, bedside procedures, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Recognize early signs of patient deterioration and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation, medication records, and patient charts.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control practices.
- Follow medication safety protocols and maintain compliance with patient safety standards.
- Coordinate with consultants, respiratory therapists, laboratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments for effective patient care.
- Educate patients' families regarding the patient's condition, treatment plan, and ICU protocols as directed by the treating physician.
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes using standardized communication practices.
- Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and functionality of ICU equipment and emergency crash carts.
- Report incidents, medication errors, equipment malfunctions, and adverse events promptly through the appropriate reporting system.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, nursing education programs, and mandatory hospital training sessions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all hospital policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing or GNM from a recognized institution.
- Valid State Nursing Council Registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 0–5 years of ICU or Critical Care experience preferred.
- Freshers may be considered based on organizational requirements.

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹45,020.82 per month
