SHORT-TERM ON-SITE ONLY DESKTOP SUPPORT ENGINEER - (REMOTE APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED)
Location: Chennai, mount road.

We are looking for an experienced desktop support engineer to complete a defined programme of security and administrative improvements across a number of company laptops.
This is a short-term, on-site assignment. It is not an IT consultancy, infrastructure-design or managed-services engagement.
A detailed written Scope of Work has already been prepared, covering approximately 25 specific actions. The successful candidate will be required to complete these actions on each assigned laptop and accurately document the work performed.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete the defined security-improvement checklist across company laptops.
- Review and document existing Windows user and administrator accounts.
- Create approved company-controlled administrator accounts.
- Confirm that employees use appropriate non-administrator accounts for normal work.
- Review Windows security, encryption, updates and device settings.
- Confirm BitLocker status and support the controlled recording of recovery information.
- Check required software, security tools and operating-system versions.
- Apply approved device naming and configuration standards.
- Record laptop details, actions completed and identified exceptions.
- Update the supplied tracking spreadsheet for each laptop.
- Escalate any issue that falls outside the approved Scope of Work.
- Complete a final handover and exceptions report.
Required Experience
- At least three years of practical Windows desktop-support experience.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Experience managing local users and administrator accounts.
- Familiarity with BitLocker, Windows Update, device security and endpoint protection.
- Experience supporting business laptops in a professional environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation.
- Ability to follow a detailed written Scope of Work without introducing unauthorised changes.
- Professional handling of confidential company systems and information.
Engagement Requirements
- The work must be completed on-site in Chennai.
- The candidate must provide their own daily rate.
- The candidate must provide two professional references.
- The candidate must be willing to provide identification and sign a confidentiality undertaking and contractor agreement.
- Company information must not be copied to personal devices, drives or cloud accounts.
- No laptop may be removed from the premises without written authorisation.
- Every completed action and exception must be documented.
