We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Purchase Officer to manage procurement activities for shipbuilding projects. The ideal candidate will have 5–6 years of procurement experience in the shipbuilding or marine industry and will be responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining cost-effective purchasing practices while meeting project schedules and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure materials, equipment, consumables, and services required for shipbuilding projects.
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, delivery timelines, and reliability.
- Obtain quotations, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate prices and commercial terms.
- Issue Purchase Orders and ensure timely follow-up until delivery.
- Coordinate with Project, Production, Engineering, Stores, and Accounts departments regarding procurement requirements.
- Monitor material delivery schedules and resolve supply delays to avoid project disruptions.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase documentation, and supplier databases.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and identify new suppliers.
- Ensure purchased materials comply with technical specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor inventory levels in coordination with the Stores department to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Support cost-saving initiatives through effective sourcing and supplier negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience
- 5–6 years of experience in procurement within the shipbuilding, marine, offshore, or heavy engineering industry.
- Experience in sourcing shipbuilding materials, marine equipment, structural steel, electrical components, piping, and related products will be preferred.
