- A Piping Designer creates detailed 2D layouts, 3D models, and isometric drawings for industrial piping systems, ensuring compliance with safety, engineering standards, and project specifications. They translate P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) into efficient layouts, select materials, and coordinate with other disciplines to resolve design clashes and ensure safe, functional plant operation.
- Key Responsibilities
- 3D Modeling & Drafting: Develop complex piping models and 2D drawings (layouts, Isometrics, GAs) using software like SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), E3D, PDMS, and AutoCAD.
- Design Development: Route process and utility piping with correct pipe sizes, specifications, and proper elevations while considering maintenance access and safety regulations.
- Clash Resolution & Coordination: Interface with structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure clash-free, coordinated designs.
- Material Management: Prepare and check bill of material reports (BOM) and perform material take-offs (MTO).
- Engineering Compliance: Follow industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).
- RequirementsExperience: Proven experience in piping design within oil & gas, petrochemical, or power sectors.
- Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of 3D modeling tools (e.g., E3D/PDMS) and 2D drafting tools (AutoCAD).
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of piping materials, fitting, valves, and structural support systems.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to work from P&IDs and equipment layouts.
- Tamil candidates only
