Key Responsibilities
1. Chemical Analysis & Bath Maintenance
- Perform daily wet chemical analysis (titrations, pH monitoring, specific gravity) of plating, cleaning, and etching solutions.
- Conduct Hull Cell testing to evaluate bath efficiency, brightener levels, and deposit quality.
- Calculate and recommend precise chemical additions to maintain plating baths within defined process windows.
- Prepare, standardize, and maintain stocks of laboratory reagents and standard solutions.
2. Quality & Finished Product Testing
- Measure plating thickness using instruments like X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), magnetic gauges, or coulo-metric testers.
- Perform deposit quality checks, including adhesion tests, bend tests, and visual inspections.
- Support corrosion resistance testing (e.g., Salt Spray Testing / SST) and document results.
3. Laboratory & Safety Operations
- Maintain calibration logs, chemical inventory, and daily test record sheets.
- Assist in monitoring Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) chemical parameters and wastewater testing.
- Strictly enforce safety protocols regarding hazardous chemical handling, storage, and waste disposal.
- Ensure standard usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in the chemical lab and shop floor.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry (Mandatory).
- Experience: 1 – 2 years of relevant hands-on experience in a chemical testing laboratory, preferably within electroplating, anodizing, or metal finishing industries.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in wet chemical analysis methods (acid-base, complexometric, redox titrations).
- Working knowledge of electroplating chemistries (e.g., Zinc, Nickel, Chrome, Copper, or Passivation).
- Basic familiarity with laboratory equipment (pH meters, analytical balances, UV-Vis, XRF).
