Job Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the yard, including Production, Logistics, Maintenance, Safety, Resource Management, and overall project execution. The role ensures that operational activities are carried out safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with required quality standards and project timelines.
The Operations Manager will work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Production/Construction, Quality Control, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and effective utilization of manpower, materials, equipment, and other resources. The role also focuses on continuous improvement, cost optimization, operational performance, and timely delivery of projects.
Job Responsibilities
Yard Operations: Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of the yard, including production, logistics, maintenance, material movement, and other operational activities.
Safety Management: Implement and enforce safety procedures, policies, and applicable regulations across yard operations. Conduct or coordinate risk assessments and promote a strong safety-conscious work culture.
Resource Management: Plan and manage manpower, materials, machinery, tools, and equipment to ensure optimum utilization and availability for project requirements.
Interdepartmental Coordination: Coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Production/Construction, Quality Control, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient project execution.
Budget & Cost Management: Develop and manage operational budgets, monitor expenditure, control operational costs, and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety or quality.
Performance Monitoring: Define and track operational KPIs, analyze performance and productivity data, identify operational gaps, and implement corrective and improvement measures.
Project Management: Oversee operational aspects of projects and ensure completion within agreed timelines, budgets, technical requirements, and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, procedures, layouts, resource utilization, and workflows. Implement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
Quality Control & Assurance: Coordinate with the Quality team to implement and monitor quality control procedures and ensure that vessels meet required specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
Stakeholder Management: Liaise and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, service providers, regulatory agencies, and other external stakeholders as required.
Staffing & Training: Participate in manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance monitoring, and development of operational and project personnel.
Strategic Planning: Develop and support long-term operational strategies and plans aligned with organizational objectives, production requirements, and future projects.
Inventory & Material Management: Oversee the availability and utilization of materials, consumables, tools, and equipment. Coordinate with relevant departments to maintain adequate stock levels and minimize shortages and operational delays.
Maintenance Management: Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of yard machinery, equipment, tools, utilities, and infrastructure to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
Customer Coordination: Maintain professional relationships with clients, support project-related customer interactions, and coordinate the timely resolution of operational or service-related concerns.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure operational activities comply with applicable statutory, regulatory, safety, environmental, and organizational requirements. Maintain appropriate operational records, reports, and documentation.
Reporting: Prepare and present periodic reports on production progress, operational performance, resource utilization, project status, costs, safety, quality, and other key operational indicators to management.
Job RequirementsEducation
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
Relevant managerial experience in Operations, Production, Yard Management, Project Management, or a similar function.
Experience in shipbuilding, boat manufacturing, marine, heavy engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, or a related industry is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating multiple projects/activities simultaneously.

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
