Position Overview
Regional leadership role accountable for performance, efficiency, and cost optimization of the surface (SFC) network across multiple states and inter-city corridors. Owns network flow, routing efficiency, hub performance, and cost control across the surface transportation network.
Leads all SFC Hub Heads and Regional Network Managers, driving consistency, standardization, and optimization across the surface logistics network. Acts as the regional anchor for network efficiency, cost management, and process transformation.
This role operates as a regional capability and governance function, working closely with line Operations, Network Planning, and central teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and cost-effective surface network performance.
Job Purpose
To optimize regional surface network performance by driving routing efficiency, cost control, capacity utilization, and process re-engineering, while ensuring reliable service and seamless network flow.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute regional surface network strategy aligned to service SLAs and cost objectives.
- Translate national network frameworks into region-specific execution models.
- Drive continuous improvement in network design, routing, and capacity planning.
SFC Network Leadership
- Lead and manage SFC Hub Heads and Regional Network Managers across the region.
- Ensure hub-level performance in terms of throughput, turnaround time, and operational efficiency.
- Drive standardization and consistency across all SFC operations.
Network Optimization & Efficiency
- Own and govern surface network flow efficiency across hubs and linehaul corridors.
- Optimize routing, consolidation, and load planning across the network.
- Ensure seamless integration of first-mile, middle-mile, and last-mile flows.
Cost Optimization & Mode Strategy
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through route optimization and alternate mode strategies.
- Monitor cost per shipment and identify improvement opportunities.
- Balance cost efficiency with service reliability and operational requirements.
Process Re-engineering & Continuous Improvement
- Lead process re-engineering initiatives to improve network efficiency and reduce cycle times.
- Drive continuous improvement programs across surface network operations.
- Implement scalable and standardized process frameworks across hubs and routes.
Stakeholder & Governance
- Collaborate with Last Mile, CPU, Air Network, Finance, and Network Planning teams.
- Ensure alignment between regional execution and national network strategy.
- Act as regional SME for surface network operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (Engineering / Operations / Supply Chain preferred); MBA/PG desirable.
- Experience: 10–15 years in logistics operations, with strong exposure to surface network, linehaul, or hub operations.
- Proven experience in managing multi-location operations and second-line leadership.
- Exposure to network optimization and cost management preferred.
