Education Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or higher with minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Product Owner with 6+ years of overall experience, including strong exposure to the insurance domain and Agile product delivery. The Product Owner will be responsible for translating business needs into clear product requirements, managing and prioritizing the product backlog, and working closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineering, quality assurance, and implementation teams to deliver high quality insurance solutions.
The ideal candidate should have a sound understanding of insurance products, rating processes, policy administration, underwriting, and product configuration. Experience with Ratabase will be an added advantage.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
. Own and manage the product backlog in alignment with the product vision, roadmap, client priorities, and business objectives.
. Work with insurance business stakeholders, subject matter experts, clients, and internal teams to gather, analyze, and document requirements.
. Convert business requirements into clear and actionable: Epics Features User stories Acceptance criteria Business rules Process flows
. Prioritize backlog items based on business value, client impact, risk, dependencies, regulatory requirements, and delivery capacity.
. Ensure user stories are sufficiently refined and ready for sprint planning and development.
. Collaborate with engineering, architecture, UX, quality assurance, infrastructure, and implementation teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
. Participate in Agile ceremonies, including: Backlog refinement Sprint planning Daily stand ups Sprint reviews and demonstrations Retrospectives Program Increment planning, where applicable
. Clarify functional requirements and provide timely decisions to development and testing teams.
. Define acceptance criteria and review completed features to ensure they meet business and functional expectations.
. Support functional testing, defect triage, user acceptance testing, release readiness, and production implementation activities.
. Evaluate defects and enhancement requests based on severity, business impact, and product strategy.
. Maintain product documentation, requirement traceability, release scope, and stakeholder communication.
. Identify dependencies, risks, assumptions, and gaps early in the delivery lifecycle and drive them to resolution.
. Monitor product adoption, quality, client feedback, and delivery outcomes to support continuous improvement.
. Contribute to product roadmap planning and provide inputs for effort estimation, release planning, and prioritization.
. Ensure delivered functionality complies with insurance business rules, audit requirements, security standards, and applicable regulations.
. Stay informed about insurance industry trends, digital transformation, automation, and emerging technologies.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Required Qualifications and Experience
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field.
. 6+ years of overall experience in business analysis, product ownership, product management, or software delivery.
. At least 3 years of experience working as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or equivalent role in an Agile software development environment.
. Strong experience in the insurance domain, preferably Property and Casualty insurance.
. Good understanding of one or more of the following: Insurance product configuration Rating and premium calculation Underwriting rules Policy lifecycle Quotes, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, and reinstatements Forms and filings Rules, rates, factors, tables, and formulas Policy administration systems
. Experience creating and managing epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlogs.
. Strong knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
. Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalent product management platforms.
. Ability to understand technical concepts, APIs, databases, integrations, application workflows, and non functional requirements.
. Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, and prioritization skills.
. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
. Ability to work effectively with distributed and cross functional teams.
. Strong stakeholder management and client facing capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
. Experience with commercial insurance or personal lines products such as: Personal Auto Commercial Auto General Liability Workers' Compensation Businessowners Policy Property Inland Marine Umbrella or Excess Liability
. Experience working with insurance policy administration or rating platforms.
. Exposure to Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco, or similar insurance technology platforms.
. Experience supporting client implementations, migrations, upgrades, or production releases.
. Knowledge of insurance regulatory and bureau filings, including ISO, NCCI, or state specific requirements.
. Product Owner or Agile certifications such as: Certified Scrum Product Owner SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager PMI Agile Certified Practitioner
. Exposure to AI assisted product delivery, requirements analysis, automation, or software development tools.
