Job Title: Estimation and Billing Engineer
Job Summary
The Estimation and Billing Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate project cost estimates, BOQs, quantity take-offs, client billing, subcontractor billing, and cost monitoring for interior fit-out projects. The role involves coordination with procurement, site execution, vendors, and clients to ensure smooth commercial operations and timely billing.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimation Responsibilities
- Study tender drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Prepare quantity take-offs from drawings.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for interior fit-out works.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare comparative statements and rate analysis.
- Coordinate with procurement and project teams for costing inputs.
- Identify scope gaps and prepare clarifications/exclusions.
- Prepare budgets and cost sheets for projects.
- Conduct value engineering to optimize project costs.
- Maintain updated database of material and labour rates.
Billing Responsibilities
- Prepare client RA bills and final bills.
- Verify subcontractor/vendor bills as per site progress.
- Coordinate with site engineers for quantity verification.
- Maintain billing records, work orders, and supporting documents.
- Prepare variation statements and extra item billing.
- Track payment status and pending receivables.
- Reconcile quantities between BOQ, executed work, and billing.
- Ensure timely submission of invoices and certifications.
- Coordinate with accounts department for payment processing.
Cost Control & Commercial Coordination
- Monitor project budget versus actual cost.
- Track material consumption and wastage.
- Assist in preparation of cash flow reports.
- Support project team in commercial and contractual matters.
- Prepare project profitability and cost variance reports.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of interior fit-out materials and execution.
- Strong understanding of BOQ preparation and quantity estimation.
- Billing and quantity verification knowledge.
- Good commercial and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of rate analysis and costing.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with ERP software is preferred.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / BE Civil Engineer
- OR
- Quantity Surveying / Construction Management backgroundExperience Required
- 2 to 8 years experience in interior fit-out estimation and billing.
