Role description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Data Analyst / Data Engineer to support data-driven investigations and propose analytical solutions for our application. This role will work closely with the application development team to analyze datasets, identify patterns, and recommend appropriate analytical and modeling approaches.
The ideal candidate has a strong analytical background, excellent SQL skills, and hands-on experience turning data into actionable insights. Primary programming languages are expected to be Python and/or R.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform exploratory data analysis to support investigations and business questions
- Design and implement analytical approaches to support application features
- Collaborate with application development teams to translate data insights into solutions
- Build visualizations and reports to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate statistical or machine learning techniques based on data characteristics
Example Use Cases
- Determine the most effective way to cluster a dataset of projects and milestones
- Analyze historical data to identify and implement the best-fitting regression model
- Perform time series analysis to identify trends and patterns
Required Skills & Experience (Must Have)
- Very strong SQL skills
- Advanced Excel experience (analysis, modeling, pivoting, formulas)
- Extensive experience with data visualization tools and techniques
- Experience with regression analysis and time series analysis
- Experience with clustering and classification methods
- Some exposure to recommendation algorithms
- Prior experience working with an application development team (directly or in close collaboration)
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis
Nice to Have
- PL/SQL experience
- .NET experience
- Broader machine learning experience beyond core statistical methods
