The Head – Mechanical Engineering is responsible for the end-to-end performance, reliability, and energy efficiency of the cold storage, refrigeration, and HVAC infrastructure across Qul Fruits facilities. The role owns plant uptime, compliance, preventive maintenance strategy, and the technical team responsible for ammonia/freon-based refrigeration systems, controlled-atmosphere (CA) stores, and associated mechanical and electrical utilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operation and maintenance of industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia/NH3 and freon-based), including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and PLC-based control panels.
- Lead HVAC system management across cold rooms, CA stores, ripening chambers, and ancillary facilities, ensuring optimal temperature, humidity, and air-flow parameters.
- Design and enforce preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
- Monitor and optimize energy consumption (kWh/MT) across refrigeration and HVAC assets; drive energy-saving initiatives and capex proposals.
- Ensure full compliance with safety standards for ammonia handling, pressure vessels, and refrigeration codes (PESO, factory safety norms, IS/ASHRAE guidelines).
- Manage spare parts inventory, vendor relationships (AMC/OEM), and technical procurement for refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
- Lead, train, and evaluate the mechanical/refrigeration team, including shift planning and skill development.
- Investigate breakdowns and equipment failures; conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain statutory documentation, audit readiness, and liaise with regulatory bodies on equipment certifications and inspections.
- Report plant performance, maintenance cost, and downtime metrics to senior management on a periodic basis.
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per year
