Job Summary
The OT Technician will assist the surgical team by preparing the operation theatre, handling equipment and instruments, and providing technical support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up the operation theatre, including equipment, instruments, and supplies before surgery
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures as required
- Operate and maintain OT equipment such as electrocautery units, anesthesia machines, C-arm, and other surgical devices
- Ensure proper sterilization, cleaning, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment
- Maintain adequate stock of surgical supplies, consumables, and disposables in the OT
- Assist in positioning patients and preparing them for surgery
- Support infection control practices and maintain aseptic conditions in the OT
- Coordinate with CSSD for sterilization and timely availability of instruments
- Maintain OT records, equipment logs, and consumption registers
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate with biomedical engineering for repairs
- Respond to emergency and on-call surgical requirements as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an OT Technician in a hospital setting
- Diploma/Certificate course in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) or related field
- Sound knowledge of surgical instruments, OT equipment, and sterilization procedures
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced OT environment
- Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and emergency calls
