Job Summary
The PGT English Teacher is responsible for teaching English language and literature to senior secondary students (Classes XI–XII), fostering critical thinking, communication skills, and a love for reading and writing. The teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess student performance, and contribute to the overall academic development of students.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons in accordance with the prescribed curriculum.
- Teach English language, literature, grammar, writing, and communication skills.
- Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, and classroom activities that promote student engagement.
- Use innovative teaching methodologies and technology-enabled learning tools.
Student Assessment
- Design and administer assignments, tests, projects, and examinations.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and academic progress.
- Identify learning gaps and provide remedial support when required.
Classroom Management
- Create a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
- Encourage student participation, discussion, and critical analysis.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while promoting respect and collaboration.
Academic Support
- Guide students in improving reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.
- Prepare students for board examinations and competitive assessments where applicable.
- Mentor students and support their academic and personal development.
School Responsibilities
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs, workshops, and professional development activities.
- Organize and support literary activities such as debates, elocutions, creative writing competitions, and school publications.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to enhance student outcomes.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the school administration.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in English (M.A. English) from a recognized university.
- B.Ed. degree from a recognized institution.
- Strong command of spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of CBSE/ICSE/State Board curriculum and assessment practices.
- Proficiency in using digital teaching tools and educational technology.
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience at the senior secondary level preferred.
- Experience in preparing students for board examinations is desirable.
