Job Summary
The Project Costing Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, project budgets, quotations, and profitability analysis for heavy fabrication and trailer manufacturing projects. The role requires close coordination with Design, Procurement, Production, PPC, Quality, and Finance to ensure cost-effective project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed project cost estimates based on customer drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Analyze engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing processes.
- Estimate material, fabrication, welding, machining, painting, assembly, and logistics costs.
- Prepare techno-commercial quotations and tender submissions.
- Conduct labor, machine hour, and overhead cost calculations.
- Coordinate with Procurement for vendor quotations and raw material pricing.
- Monitor project budgets and compare estimated vs. actual project costs.
- Perform cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Support value engineering and cost reduction initiatives.
- Develop and maintain standard costing models and databases.
- Work closely with Design, Production, PPC, Purchase, and Finance teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare MIS reports related to project costing and profitability.
Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Project Costing, Estimation, or Commercial Engineering in:
- Heavy Fabrication
- Trailer Manufacturing
- Structural Steel Fabrication
- Construction Equipment
- Industrial Equipment
- Pressure Vessel Manufacturing
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding, machining, painting, and assembly.
- Expertise in project estimation and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, ERPNext, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong commercial and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.

- Cost estimate accuracy (% variance).
- Timely submission of quotations.
- Project profitability.
- Reduction in project cost overruns.
- Cost-saving initiatives implemented.

Preferred Candidate Profile
- Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy fabrication or trailer manufacturing.
- Proven experience in handling high-value fabrication projects.
- Strong commercial acumen with exposure to customer quotations and tendering.
- Ability to work independently and lead the costing function across multiple projects.
Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹65,000.00 per month
