A Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in English is responsible for teaching senior secondary students (Classes VIII to X) and developing their proficiency in language, literature, and communication skills. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons based on the prescribed curriculum (such as CBSE or state boards), explaining literary texts, grammar, and writing techniques, and fostering critical thinking and analytical abilities among students. A TGT English teacher also designs assessments, evaluates answer scripts, provides constructive feedback, and prepares students for board examinations and competitive tests. In addition, they are expected to encourage reading habits, organize debates, literary activities, and co-curricular events, and integrate modern teaching methods, including digital tools, to enhance learning. Maintaining classroom discipline, tracking student progress, collaborating with colleagues, and communicating effectively with parents are also key responsibilities, along with contributing to the overall academic and cultural development of the institution.
