Job Title: Steward
Department: Food & Beverages
Reports To: F&B Manager
Job Purpose
To support the Food & Beverages Department by ensuring timely distribution of food to patients, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and pantry, and assisting in the smooth functioning of food service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure breakfast, soup, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner are delivered to patients on time.
- Ensure all meals are prepared in the kitchen according to the scheduled timings.
- Ensure timely transfer of food from the hospital kitchen to the hostel.
- Wash and sanitize utensils, plates, trays, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean and maintain the kitchen, pantry, dining area, and workstations.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of food waste and other waste materials.
- Maintain cleanliness of sinks, floors, storage areas, and kitchen equipment.
- Refill cleaning materials and report shortages to the F&B Manager.
- Arrange and store kitchen utensils, equipment, and supplies in an organized manner.
- Follow hospital hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and infection control policies at all times.
- Assist the kitchen team during meal preparation and service whenever required.
- Handle food with care and ensure hygienic practices during transportation and serving.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the F&B Manager or Management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10th Standard or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a hospital, hotel, or catering service is preferred.
Skills Required
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and sanitation.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit to handle food transportation and cleaning activities.
- Punctual, responsible, and disciplined.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts ( No night shifts), including weekends and public holidays, as required.
- Requires standing for long periods, lifting food containers, and performing cleaning duties.
