Position description: We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee the Carbon Steel - Mechanical department at Jindal Ferrous Limited, a key player in the Mining & Metals industry. This role demands a seasoned professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering and carbon steel production processes, responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and leading a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing manufacturing workflows, enhancing product quality, and implementing innovative solutions to meet the company’s growth objectives while maintaining safety and sustainability standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Carbon Steel - Mechanical department, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality in carbon steel manufacturing.
- Oversee maintenance and reliability programs for mechanical equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, and operations to ensure seamless project execution and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards specific to the mining and metals sector.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance operational performance.
- Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and procurement activities to support departmental objectives.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with R&D and technical teams to integrate new technologies and materials into production processes.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on departmental performance, challenges, and opportunities to senior management.
