Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Architecture & Enclosure, Cabinet & Container Design • Define form factor, layout, and assembly strategy for modular & containerized BESS • Prepare and maintain: o 3D models & 2D drawings o BOMs & assembly instructions o Installation and service manuals • Ensure proper revision and change management. • Follow design best practices and motivate fellow designers to follow • Design LFP Battery modules, racks, Cabinet & BESS Container structures • Ensure IP protection, corrosion resistance, and environmental robustness.
2. Integration of Thermal & Cooling Components • Integrate thermal management solutions: o Forced air cooling o Liquid cooling (cold plates, heat exchangers) • Optimize airflow paths, heat sink design, and component placement.
3. Structural & Mechanical Analysis • Design Support for structural FEA for static, dynamic, vibration, fatigue, seismic, and transportation loads. • Design for safe lifting, load distribution, shock resistance, clearances, handling, and installation.
4. Integration with Electrical, Fire & Control Systems • Coordinate with electrical and control teams on: o Component placement & clearances o Cable routing and bending radius o EMI shielding & segregation o HV/LV cabinets, busbars, grounding points, and cable trays. • Ensure creepage, clearance, and safety requirements are mechanically supported. • Work with electrical teams to ensure proper placement of • Integrate fire detection, suppression, and venting mechanisms (e.g., FACP, smoke ducts, deflagration panels). 5. DFM, DFA & Industrialization • Design for manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability. • Balance performance, safety, manufacturability, and cost. • Select materials and finishes considering cost, durability, and environment. • Support prototype builds, NPI, and production ramp-up. • Drive cost reduction and weight optimization initiatives. • Closely Work closely with System engineering, Electrical design team, Thermal engineering, Safety engineering, Program management, Supply chain & manufacturing, Drive design reviews, DFMEA, PFMEA, and issue resolution. • Support supplier qualification for racks, sheet metal, and enclosure components. • Support Process & manufacturing teams Tooling, jigs & fixtures, Weld & fabrication process selection Assembly line setup, Takt time and manufacturability improvements 6. Testing, Validation & Compliance • Support mechanical and environmental testing: o Thermal cycling o IP / ingress tests o Vibration & shock tests • Support certification to IEC, UL, NFPA and ISO standards. • Ensure compliance with global mechanical standards • Resolve mechanical field issues and drive corrective actions.
Education & Experience • Diploma or BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering • 3–5 years in mechanical design for Energy Storage Systems, its Enclosure & Cabinet • CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) professional level hands-on experience is must • DFM/DFA principles, DFMEA, Proto Development Support • Ability to Interpret Thermal, CFD & Structural analysis reports Preferred Industry Background • LFP Battery Pack, BESS Cabinet, & BESS container system manufacturers -End of Document-
