Area Sales Manager - Medical Devices - Job Description
Position Overview:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) for Medical Devices is responsible for managing the sales activities within a specific geographic region. The ASM leads a team of sales representatives, ensures sales targets are met, and fosters relationships with healthcare professionals to promote and sell the company’s medical devices. The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and market analysis to optimize sales performance in the area.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy and Execution:
1. Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and market share goals in the designated area.
2. Analyse sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
3. Set clear goals and objectives for the sales team and ensure alignment with the overall company strategy.
Team Management and Leadership:
1. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of sales representatives, ensuring they have the necessary tools and training to meet sales goals.
2. Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing feedback and coaching to improve team effectiveness.
3. Organize sales meetings, training sessions, and workshops to ensure the team is updated on product knowledge and sales techniques.
Customer Relationship Management:
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare professionals, including doctors, surgeons, hospital administrators, and procurement teams.
2. Act as a point of contact for resolving customer issues and providing product support.
3. Regularly visit healthcare facilities to understand customer needs, promote products, and provide post-sales support.
Market Analysis and Business Development:
1. Conduct market research to understand customer needs, emerging trends, and competitive activities in the area.
2. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the region, including expanding into untapped markets or customer segments.
3. Provide feedback to senior management on market conditions, product performance, and potential areas for improvement.
Product Promotion and Education:
1. Ensure that healthcare professionals are well-informed about the company’s medical devices, including their features, benefits, and clinical applications.
2. Organize and participate in product demonstrations, presentations, and educational workshops for healthcare providers.
3. Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute product launches, promotions, and events in the area.
Sales Forecasting and Reporting:
1. Monitor sales activities and provide regular reports on key metrics such as sales volume, market share, and revenue growth.
2. Use CRM tools to track customer interactions, manage sales pipelines, and forecast future sales.
3. Provide management with insights and recommendations based on sales data and customer feedback.
Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
1. Ensure that all sales activities comply with medical device industry regulations (e.g., FDA, CE marking) and company policies.
2. Ensure that the sales team adheres to ethical sales practices and industry standards when interacting with healthcare professionals.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
1. Work closely with the product development, regulatory, and marketing teams to ensure that the product meets market needs and regulatory requirements.
2. Provide insights and feedback from the field to support product improvements and new product development.
3. Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely product availability and distribution.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Experience:
· 5+ years of experience in sales within the medical devices or healthcare industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
· Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in the medical devices field.
· Experience working with healthcare professionals and managing a sales team.
· Salary : 4to 6 Lakhs per annum (No bar for a good candidate with strong skills)
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with healthcare professionals and internal teams.
· Deep knowledge of medical devices and their applications in clinical settings.
· Ability to analyze market trends and sales data to make informed decisions.
· Proficiency in CRM tools and sales management software.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
