Job Purpose
To ensure that all cut garment panels are produced accurately according to approved patterns, specifications, measurements, fabric requirements, and quality standards before they move to the sewing section.
Key Responsibilities1. Fabric & Cutting Preparation
- Verify fabric quality, shade, width, GSM, construction, and roll details before cutting.
- Check fabric relaxation and spreading procedures.
- Verify that the correct fabric, color, lot, and quantity are being used according to the cutting plan.
- Ensure fabric defects are properly identified and marked during spreading.
2. Marker & Pattern Inspection
- Check markers against approved patterns and production specifications.
- Verify grain line, pattern placement, size ratio, and fabric utilization.
- Ensure all pattern pieces are complete and correctly positioned.
- Check pattern and marker versions to prevent use of obsolete components.
3. Cutting Quality Inspection
- Inspect cut panels for correct shape, size, and measurements.
- Check cutting accuracy, notches, drill holes, and panel identification.
- Ensure there are no defects such as:
- Uneven or jagged edges
- Incorrect cutting
- Over-cutting or under-cutting
- Missing panels
- Incorrect size or quantity
- Fabric damage caused by cutting
- Wrong shade or fabric lot mixing
- Conduct first-piece/sample inspection before bulk cutting where required.
4. Bundle & Panel Control
- Verify bundle quantities against the cutting ticket.
- Ensure panels are correctly numbered, bundled, and identified.
- Check that different sizes, colors, shades, and fabric lots are properly segregated.
- Ensure all required components are included in each bundle.
- Prevent mixing of panels from different fabric lots or shades.
5. Measurement & Specification Control
- Measure critical cut-panel dimensions according to the approved measurement specification.
- Use appropriate measuring tools such as measuring tape, rulers, templates, and gauges.
- Record inspection results and identify deviations from approved tolerances.
- Ensure cut components meet buyer/customer requirements.
6. Defect Identification & Corrective Action
- Identify cutting-related quality problems and immediately inform the Cutting Supervisor and Quality Manager.
- Hold or reject defective panels when they do not meet specifications.
- Coordinate with cutting personnel to correct recurring problems.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain records of defects, rework, rejection, and corrective actions.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain cutting inspection reports and quality records.
- Prepare daily/weekly cutting quality reports.
- Record inspection results, defects, rejection quantities, and re-cut requirements.
- Verify cutting quality against approved samples, specifications, tech packs, and work instructions.
- Support internal, customer, and compliance audits.

- Diploma or degree in Garment Technology, Textile Technology, Apparel Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant experience in garment cutting and quality control.
- Knowledge of garment construction, patterns, markers, fabric properties, and cutting processes.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of garment cutting and quality inspection.
- Ability to read tech packs, measurement charts, patterns, and cutting instructions.
- Good understanding of fabric defects and shade variation.
- Knowledge of AQL and garment quality standards is an advantage.
- Good measurement and inspection skills.
- Ability to identify root causes of cutting defects.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under production pressure.
- Basic computer knowledge for maintaining quality reports.
Experience
Typical requirement: 2–5 years of experience in garment cutting quality control, cutting inspection, or a related apparel production role.
For a senior position, 5+ years of relevant experience may be required.

Authority & Accountability
The Cutting QC is responsible for identifying and controlling quality problems at the cutting stage and has the authority to hold or reject cut panels that fail to meet approved specifications. The position must ensure that only conforming cut components are released to the sewing department.
Working Relationships
Internal: Cutting Department, Cutting Supervisor, CAD/Marker Team, Production, Sewing, Finishing, QA, Fabric Store, and Quality Management.
External: Customer/buyer representatives, third-party inspectors, and auditors when required.
Job Summary
The Cutting QC plays a critical role in preventing garment defects at the earliest production stage. The main responsibility is to ensure that fabric is correctly prepared, markers and patterns are approved, panels are accurately cut and measured, bundles are correctly identified, and defective or incorrectly cut components do not proceed to sewing.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
