Position Overview
The Trade Compliance Associate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with global import and export regulations for our clients. The position involves managing trade compliance activities, supporting international trade operations, developing compliance procedures, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and duty savings.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government authorities to ensure smooth and compliant cross-border trade operations.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Classification & Compliance
- Determine and maintain accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications for imported and exported products.
- Assign and validate Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and export control requirements.
- Monitor and review import and export transactions to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Import & Export Operations
- Provide daily support and guidance to clients regarding international movement of goods.
- Manage and maintain business partner trade compliance records.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to ensure compliant shipment execution.
- Apply for and manage export licenses when required.
Customs & Duty Optimization
- Utilize knowledge of Country of Origin (COO) and Free Trade Agreements (FTA) to support compliant imports.
- Identify opportunities for customs duty savings and process optimization.
- Support clients in leveraging trade programs and preferential duty arrangements.
Process Development & Documentation
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and compliance-related documentation.
- Continuously evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and lower operational costs.
- Assist in strengthening and expanding the company’s Global Trade Compliance Program.
Training & Stakeholder Management
- Conduct internal training sessions on trade compliance topics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on compliance and supply chain projects.
- Communicate effectively with clients, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
Regulatory Monitoring
- Monitor developments in customs, trade compliance, and export control regulations.
- Research and recommend best practices to improve organizational compliance programs.
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory authorities when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Support continuous improvement activities across the Global Trade Services function.
Pay: ₹285,976.39 - ₹516,411.24 per year
