Job Description – Duty Doctor (Evening & Night Shift)

About the Role
Sahaj Hospital is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Duty Doctor to provide quality patient care during evening and night shifts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for patient assessment, initial consultations, emergency support, treatment coordination, and ensuring smooth clinical operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Examine and assess patients presenting to the hospital
- Record detailed medical history and perform physical examinations
- Monitor patients' condition and provide appropriate medical care
- Assist senior consultants during patient consultations and procedures
Clinical Support
- Manage emergency cases and provide first-line medical assistance
- Prescribe medications and investigations as per clinical protocols
- Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, and other departments for patient care
- Ensure accurate and timely medical documentation
Patient Communication
- Explain diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions to patients
- Address patient concerns and provide appropriate medical guidance
- Maintain high standards of patient care and satisfaction
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain patient records, case sheets, and treatment documentation
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and clinical protocols
- Prepare daily clinical reports and handover notes for the next shift
Required Qualifications
- BAMS / BHMS / MBBS
- Valid registration with the respective Medical Council
Experience
- 2–4 years of clinical experience
- Experience in hospitals, clinics, emergency care will be preferred
Required Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
- Knowledge of medical documentation and hospital protocols
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR/Hospital Management Software
