Job Summary
The IB Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based Spanish language instruction in alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and framework. The teacher will foster language acquisition, intercultural understanding, and international-mindedness while creating an engaging, inclusive, and student-centred learning environment. The role requires collaboration with colleagues to design authentic learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess Spanish language learning in accordance with the IB programme framework (PYP, MYP, and/or DP, as applicable).
- Develop students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and intercultural communication.
- Design inquiry-based and concept-driven learning experiences that promote student agency and authentic language use.
- Implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and language proficiency levels of students.
- Use formative and summative assessments aligned with IB assessment practices and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
- Integrate the IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and Learner Profile attributes into teaching and classroom practices.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that encourages risk-taking and confidence in language learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units and contribute to curriculum development and programme enhancement.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessment, and attendance, and prepare reports in accordance with school and IB requirements.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and learning goals.
- Participate actively in curriculum planning, collaborative meetings, school events, professional learning communities, and IB professional development.
- Contribute to the school's commitment to safeguarding, student well-being, and international-mindedness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Spanish, Modern Languages, Education, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB World School.
- Experience teaching IB Spanish Language Acquisition and/or Spanish Language & Literature is highly desirable.
- IB workshop certification or evidence of IB professional development is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Native or near-native proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy, inquiry-based learning, and concept-driven curriculum.
- Experience with criterion-based assessment and effective feedback practices within the IB framework.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to integrate educational technology to enhance language learning.
- Collaborative, reflective, and committed to continuous professional growth.
- Passion for fostering multilingualism, intercultural understanding, and global citizenship.
Preferred
- Experience teaching across multiple IB programmes (PYP, MYP, and/or DP).
- Familiarity with multilingual and multicultural learning environments.
- Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities such as Spanish clubs, cultural events, language immersion experiences, or international exchange programmes.
Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
