We are looking for a Litigation Jr. Associate - Civil to join our litigation team and independently assist in managing litigation and dispute-resolution matters before various courts, tribunals, and authorities. The ideal candidate should have strong legal research and drafting skills, sound knowledge of procedural law, good court exposure, and the ability to manage matters with minimal supervision. The role requires a combination of legal acumen, attention to detail, ownership, and effective client communication.
Key Responsibilities
1. Litigation & Court Work
- Handle and assist in the conduct of civil, commercial, corporate, and other litigation matters before appropriate courts, tribunals, and authorities.
- Attend court proceedings, hearings, mentions, conferences, and other procedural matters.
- Brief counsel and coordinate with arguing counsels, clerks, and other stakeholders as required.
- Track hearings, orders, directions, filing deadlines, and procedural requirements.
- Prepare hearing notes, case updates, chronologies, and matter status reports.
- Coordinate filings and ensure compliance with court and tribunal procedures.
2. Legal Drafting
- Draft and review pleadings, written statements, rejoinders, replies, applications, affidavits, notices, petitions, appeals, written submissions, and other litigation documents.
- Prepare legal notices, responses, representations, and correspondence with opposing parties and authorities.
- Assist in preparing briefs, case summaries, arguments, and submissions for senior counsel and Partners.
- Review documents and evidence and assist in developing litigation strategy.
3. Legal Research & Analysis
- Conduct detailed research on applicable statutes, rules, regulations, case laws, and judicial precedents.
- Analyse legal issues and provide concise research notes and actionable inputs.
- Track relevant developments in law, judgments, notifications, and procedural changes.
- Assist Partners and senior team members in evaluating legal and strategic aspects of disputes.
4. Matter Management
- Independently manage assigned matters and maintain updated matter records.
- Maintain case files, pleadings, orders, evidence, correspondence, and other relevant documentation.
- Monitor limitation periods, hearing dates, filing deadlines, and other critical timelines. Prepare regular updates on the status and progress of assigned matters.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and follow-ups.
5. Client Coordination
- Participate in client conferences and discussions, as required.
- Understand client instructions and translate them into appropriate legal action. Communicate matter updates clearly and professionally to clients.
- Coordinate with clients for documents, information, evidence, and other requirements.
- Maintain professional and responsive client relationships.
6. Internal Coordination
- Work closely with Partners, Senior Associates, Associates, and other members of the legal team.
- Coordinate with external advocates, counsels, court clerks, experts, and other professionals.
- Provide timely updates and escalate critical issues, risks, or delays to the reporting Partner.
- Support the team in meeting matter-specific and firm-level timelines.
Essential Qualifications
- LL.B. / B.A. LL.B. / B.B.A. LL.B. from a recognized institution.
- Enrolment with the Bar Council of India / relevant State Bar Council.
- Strong understanding of Indian civil and commercial litigation procedures.
- Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
Experience
- 2–3 years of relevant litigation experience preferred.
- Prior experience in civil, commercial, corporate, contractual, or related litigation will be an advantage.
- Candidates with meaningful court exposure and hands-on drafting experience will be preferred.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
